NAWOJ Celebrates Moji Makanjuola at 70

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has celebrated former president of the association and veteran broadcaster, Moji Makanjuola, as she marks her 70th birthday, describing her as a defining figure in Nigerian journalism and a steadfast advocate for women in the media.
According to a press statement signed by the National Chairperson, Aishatu Ibrahim, and National Secretary, Wasilah Ladan, NAWOJ paid tribute to Makanjuola’s enduring contributions to the profession, noting her legacy of leadership, mentorship, and commitment to strengthening the association during her tenure.
The association said Makanjuola’s decades-long career in broadcasting has been marked by a consistent push for ethical journalism and a strong voice for women in national discourse, adding that her work on the health beat has earned her wide recognition for promoting accurate and people-focused reporting, particularly in cancer control advocacy.
NAWOJ also highlighted her role in training and inspiring a new generation of journalists, especially women, to pursue meaningful reporting in areas such as health, development, and public policy. It noted that her influence has shaped newsroom standards and reinforced the role of the media in driving social change and public awareness.
Members and colleagues within NAWOJ commended her resilience, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to truth, observing that her impact extends beyond Nigeria into international journalism and development circles where she continues to command respect.
The association further acknowledged her efforts in advancing gender inclusion in the media, breaking leadership barriers, and setting standards of integrity in broadcasting, describing her as a role model whose contributions remain relevant across generations.
NAWOJ wished her good health and many more years of continued service, mentorship, and contribution to journalism and national development, as she celebrates the milestone.
