The Anambra State Police Command has noted that residents are exhausted with criminals threatening their peace and destroying economic activities, particularly on Mondays. This revelation was made on April 21, 2025, after a security assessment and feedback on the “Operation Udo Ga Chi – Zero Kidnapping” operations.
According to the Command, residents have exhibited more commitment to collaborating with security agencies to fish out the bad eggs within the State. The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, has expressed delight over the improved resilience of residents over the Monday Sit-At-Home.
The Commissioner has assured the implementation of various security initiatives to enhance safety, foster community engagement, and uphold the rule of law. “Operation Udo Ga Chi – Zero Kidnapping and other violent crimes” is intelligence-driven with Joint Security targeted patrols with Operatives posted to identify locations like Awka, Nnewi, Ihiala, Onitsha, Ogidi, Otuocha, and some other places with Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) on the alert.
This strategic move is aimed at reinforcing public confidence as well as ensuring the continued safety and security of all residents.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, signed off on the statement, emphasizing the Command’s commitment to working with residents to tackle crime and ensure peace in the State.
