It was indeed a remarkable day as Hon. Uche Harris Okonkwo joined illustrious sons and daughters of Anambra State at the 2025 Anambra Day Celebration held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. The event drew a large crowd of Anambra indigenes from across Nigeria and beyond, all gathered to celebrate their heritage, culture, and unity today.
Hon. Uchenna Harris Annie Okonkwo, who represents Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, expressed delight at the massive turnout, describing the occasion as “a proud moment for Ndi Anambra to reflect on our common roots and achievements.” He commended the organisers for their dedication and urged Anambra people everywhere to continue promoting peace, unity, and development at home and abroad.
The lawmaker also praised the state government for maintaining the tempo of progress in infrastructure, education, and commerce, noting that Anambra’s spirit of enterprise and excellence remains unmatched. “From Nnewi to Onitsha and Awka, our people continue to show that with hard work and vision, greatness is possible,” he added.
Other dignitaries at the event equally lauded the Anambra community in Abuja for their organisation, cultural display, and solidarity, describing the celebration as a model for other states.
Anambra State, often called the Light of the Nation, is renowned for its trailblazing sons and daughters in politics, business, and innovation — from Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe to Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, Chief Nwafor Orizu, Rt. Hon. Agunwa Anaekwe and countless others whose contributions continue to uplift Nigeria’s development story.
The colourful ceremony ended with traditional dances, musical performances, and goodwill messages that echoed the spirit of unity and pride among Ndi Anambra.
