The Police Service Commission (PSC) has successfully kicked off the Departmental Selection Board (DSB) promotion interview for Inspectors seeking to rise to the rank of Superintendents. The exercise, which began on Monday, May 19th, 2025, is being held in various Police Zonal Command Headquarters across the country.
PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd mni), led a high-powered delegation to the Zone 7 Headquarters in Abuja to oversee the exercise. He expressed satisfaction with the smooth takeoff, stating, “This is the time to get it right.” The Chairman emphasized the importance of careful scrutiny and induction to prepare officers for the demands and expectations of the Superintendent rank.
According to DIG Argungu, the Commission aims to build a credible, efficient, and effective Police Force that will be the pride of the nation. He noted that this begins with defined recruitment, promotion, and disciplinary processes.
The exercise is being supervised by top officials, including Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, retired Justice of the Supreme Court, DIG Taiwo Lakanu, and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission. While some zones commenced the exercise on Monday, others will begin on different dates due to competing national events.
The successful candidates from the Board Interview will be promoted to the rank of unconfirmed Assistant Superintendents of Police. The PSC Chairman and his team are committed to ensuring the exercise is conducted fairly and transparently.
The Commission’s efforts are geared towards strengthening the Nigeria Police Force and enhancing its capacity to serve the nation effectively.
