The Police Service Commission (PSC) has expressed profound sadness over the passing of its former Chairman, Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, CFR, a retired Inspector General of Police. In a condolence visit to his family, the PSC described Dr. Arase’s death as a tragic loss not only to the Commission but to the entire nation.
Dr. Arase was remembered as a distinguished officer, cerebral leader, and pathfinder who dedicated his life to serving Nigeria with exemplary integrity, courage, and reform. During his tenure as PSC Chairman, he provided visionary leadership, guiding the Commission with wisdom and foresight. His commitment to institutional growth led to the successful relocation of the Commission to its new headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
The PSC delegation, led by Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, commiserated with Dr. Arase’s family and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul. The Commission has also opened a condolence register at its headquarters to enable colleagues, friends, and well-wishers to pay tribute to the late Dr. Arase.
The Board, Management, and Staff of the PSC extend their heartfelt condolences to Dr. Arase’s family, the Nigeria Police Force, and the nation, praying that God grants his family the strength to bear this great loss.¹ May his noble soul rest in perfect peace.
