The city of Abuja sparkled with glamour and excitement yesterday, September 25, 2025, as family, friends, political associates, and admirers converged at the classy Tattafish, Wuse 2, to celebrate the 46th birthday of Dr Oby Promise Ajih, fondly known as Ojiugoanawarandieze. The colourful event, was emceed by me, it lived up to its billing as one of the most vibrant social gatherings in the capital city last night.
The atmosphere was charged with warmth and joy as dignitaries and well-wishers trooped in to honour the celebrant. Proceedings opened with a heartfelt prayer by Barr. (Mrs) Juliet Agunbiade, cousin to Dr Oby, before a delightful roll call of distinguished invitees. Guests, in turn, took time to speak glowingly about the celebrant, many of them fondly referring to her as Woman Jagaban, a title that reflects her resilience, courage, and boundless spirit of service.
Speaker after speaker extolled her as a physician with a golden heart who has touched countless lives through free medical services in her community and beyond. They described her as a grassroots politician and philanthropist par excellence whose door remains open to the needy and downtrodden.
In her moving remarks, Dr Oby thanked God for her life, recalling with deep emotion the turbulent moments, narrow escapes from death, and political challenges she has endured. She noted that her story is one of triumph through faith, stating with conviction that with God on her side, the journey will only get better.
The evening climaxed with the celebrant joining guests to cut her elegantly decorated cake. Amid cheers, the master of ceremonies called for a toast, delivering a soulful rendition that drew applause from all corners of the hall. Friends and associates took turns to clink glasses in honour of the woman of the moment.
Guests were treated to a rich variety of cuisine and drinks as the atmosphere became more festive. Soon after, Dr Oby herself led the way to the dance floor, her graceful moves drawing others to join in what became a lively session of music, dance, and laughter.
As the evening drew to a close, the gathering was wrapped up with prayers and good wishes, with many looking forward with anticipation to her golden jubilee which promises to be a celebration of even grander proportions.
