President Bola Tinubu has officially forwarded the names of his newly-appointed service chiefs to the Senate for confirmation. In a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which was read to lawmakers on the floor in Abuja, Tinubu submitted the list of nominees for the nation’s top military positions.
The letter, according to Akpabio, has been referred to the Committee of the Whole, which will commence the screening process next week. The nominees include General Olufemi Oluyede for Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General Waheedi Shaibu for Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas for Chief of Naval Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke for Chief of Air Staff, and Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye for Chief of Defence Intelligence.

The Senate is scheduled to begin the screening and confirmation of the nominees on Wednesday, October 29. This move marks the next step in consolidating the leadership of Nigeria’s armed forces under the Tinubu administration.
