Honorable Sir Innocent Ojike, the Member representing Oyi Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, praised the conduct of the November 8 governorship election in his ward, describing it as peaceful, orderly and a clear show of voter participation.
In a brief exchange with journalists and election observers, Ojike, widely known as Ojickam, said the turnout was high and voters conducted themselves calmly. He explained that many people in his constituency believed Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo had performed well during his first term, and he was confident at the time of the encounter that the APGA candidate would secure a convincing victory.
He also responded to questions about a newly erected perimeter fence bearing his name at Odumodu Primary School, which served as one of the polling units. Ojike said the fence was constructed to provide a safer learning environment for pupils, noting that security concerns made such interventions necessary. He described the project as part of his ongoing commitment to community development and said more work would continue, whether or not he holds public office.
INEC has now declared Professor Soludo, the APGA candidate, the winner of the governorship election. He polled 422,664 votes out of 584,054 valid votes, defeating his closest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the APC, who secured 99,445 votes.
