Students from different tertiary institutions in Anambra State have moved in solidarity in support of continuation of Operation Udo Ga-Achi and Agunaechemba security outfits.
The students, who held the peaceful protest from Aroma Junction to the Light House, from National Association of Polytechnic stuidents (NAPS), National Association of Nigeria Colleges of Education Students ( NANCES) were led by the Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Council (JCC), Anambra State.
The leadership of NANS JCC, Comrade Ifeanyichukwu Chukwuemerie commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his effort in the area of security, saying that students can live freely and travel without attack, and that normalcy has returned with lives and properties secured, even as people can now sleep with their two eyes closed.
Condemning politicians calling for disbandment of Operation Udo Ga-Achi and Agunaechemba, he commended Governor Soludo for quality infrastructure in terms of good roads, provision of Awka Fun City and other infrastructure and pledged to support his second term ambition.
Chief of Staff to the Governor, Ernest Ezeajughi, thanked them for finding it worthy to support the governor, noting that the government would not stop improving their lives.
He advised the students to eschew crime and indiscipline as it will endanger their lives.
” What Mr Governor is doing in the area of security is commendable. Kidnapping has reduced, many things changed. Please don’t listen to politicians who are politicizing the insecurity,” he concluded.
Special Assistant to Governor Soludo on Students Affairs, Comrade Okoye Mathew Okpara, commended the students for showing solidarity to government, which he said had improved their academic environment for effective teaching and learning through infrastructural development and security.
Schools represented at the protest were Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State Polythenic, Mgbakwu, Federal Polythenic, Oko, Federal College of Education ( Technical), Umunze, Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, National Metallurgical Training Institute, Oba, and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam.
